Digital Covid Certificate
The European Union signs the Regulation on the Digital Covid Certificate whose objective is to facilitate movements in the Union and economic recovery. In this way, the legislative process that is only at the expense of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union ends.
The EU certificate, which will allow citizens to enjoy the right to free movement again, is valid for 27 countries and will be valid for 12 months. Likewise, it will enter into force as of July 1, with a transition period of six weeks for the issuance of certificates in those Member States that need more time.
It will be accessible to all EU citizens and all EU countries will accept certificates to show that someone has been vaccinated, has a negative test or has passed the disease.
Furthermore, it will be free and available in all EU languages; it will exist in digital and printed format; It will be secure and will include a QR code with a digital signature.
However, the certificate will not be an essential requirement to exercise the right to free movement.
